on the Observance of Pensioners Day and Meeting of Members held at Anandanagar
Karnataka IA & AD Pensioners Association observed Pensioners’ Day and held meeting of members on 9-12-2017 at Community Hall, Shri Vinayaka Temple, AG’s Layout, Anandanagar, Hebbal. The meeting commenced at 11 AM. About 120 members attended the meeting. Dr. Vijayalakshmi Mohan CMO CGHS Wellness Centre No.3 was Chief Guest. President Manjunath welcoming the Chief guest and participants traced the significance of observance Pensioners Day. He mentioned exhaustive article in kannada on the subject is already published in November 2017 issue of journal “Dhvani”. He also stated that latest developments on the revision of pension of past pensioners was mainly due to the historic judgment of Constitution bench of Supreme Court on 17-12-1982 where it was held that pension is a right artificially pensioners cannot be divided into different classes. Secretary Radhakrishna introduced the Chief Guest Dr. Vuijayalakshmi Mohan. Dr. Vijalakshmi delivered lecture on the topic “Health & Life Style for Senior Citizens”.for about one hour. In her lecture she stressed importance of life style to keep fit at old age. Stressing the importance of walking for senior citizens she stated that “All of us should enjoy walking so that you can meet people, the beautiful environment in the park with garden and flowers with fresh air makes you feel happy. Have some relaxed time to walk .once you are used to walk regularly you won’t feel like missing it.” After the lecture there was interaction between the Doctor and participants for about half an hour. The secretary thanked the Chief Guest for making proceedings lively and giving guidance to senior citizens for leading healthy life.
In the meeting of members held
afterwards Secretary informed the latest position regarding the progress of
revision of pre-2016 retirees pension in all the IA & AD Offices located in
Karnataka. He also announced that in
June/July 2018 Second Sports Fest will be held and sought cooperation of
members to make the festival of sports a success. President in his concluding
remarks traced the growth of Association and mentioned that Association will be
completing 10 years in 2020. He
requested the co-operation of members for celebrating 10th
Anniversary of the organisation in a grand manner. GP Nagarajan Joint Secretary proposed vote
of thanks. The meeting concluded at 1.30
Pm. The members in Anandnagar had made very good arrangements for meeting and
served lunch to all the participants.
